Chiropractic care is a non-invasive treatment option that utilizes manual care performed by trained practitioners. Chiropractors are primary health care professionals who have extensive education and training in diagnosis and management of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. We provide diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care tools that is customized for each person.

All patients undergo a thorough initial assessment prior to treatment. This is to identify areas of concern, appropriate treatment plans, and health goals.

Common Conditions Treated:

  • Sprains and Strains
  • Neck and Back Pain

  • Nerve Pain
  • Muscle Pain

Adjustments / Mobilizations

Chiropractors are well trained to perform what is commonly known as spinal adjustments or spinal manipulations. Manual adjustments are quick and gentle forces through a specific joint and are intended to restore motion and relieve tension to a restricted area. These adjustments are painless and comfortable. During the adjustment you may hear small "popping" sounds which we call a cavitation, and it is nothing to be afraid of. No, your bones are not breaking and no you will not get arthritis. This sound is just the change in pressure within the joint creating air bubbles. This is the same mechanism as cracking open a can of pop. The popping sound is not necessary for a successful adjustment as relief can be felt with or without it.   Spinal manipulation can be a component of your treatment plan but may not always be incorporated. Patients may also prefer joint mobilizations. Mobilizations achieve similar results as spinal adjustments but are instead performed by bringing a joint slowly through a small and precise range of motion.

Adjustment & Mobilization Benefits:

  • Relieve pain
  • Decrease stiffness and dysfunction
  • Improve joint range of motion

Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, and tendons) may exhibit abnormal tension from poor posture, traumatic injury, or strain/sprain from a specific activity. This tension may produce pain, tenderness and/or cause movement dysfunctions and can manifest in many ways, including trigger points. We often refer to a trigger point as a taut band of muscle that can be painful upon compression and can give rise to referred pain and motor dysfunction, sometimes referred to as a knot or “kink.”

Soft tissue therapies are mechanical forms of therapy where soft-tissue structures are pressed, kneaded, and stretched using physical contact with the hand or a mechanical device.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a skilled myofascial intervention used for soft-tissue treatment. It is applied using instruments that are usually made of stainless steel with bevelled edges and contours that can conform to different body anatomical locations and allows for deeper penetration. It is used for the detection and treatment of soft tissue disorders. Instruments effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. The ergonomic design of these instruments provides the clinician with the ability to locate restrictions and allows the clinician to treat the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure.

Massage Device / Vibration

When a massage device is placed on your muscles and turned on, the attachments vibrate or “percuss” at a high frequency and low amplitude of movement, affecting the targeted soft tissues in the area.

Soft Tissue Therapy Benefits:

  • Relieve pain and inflammation
  • Reduce muscle spasm
  • Improve joint range of motion
  • Correct abnormal postures
  • Decrease stiffness and dysfunction
  • Reduce and remodel scar tissue formation
  • Improve circulation and local blood flow

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine that is rooted in traditional chinese medicine. It involves using thin needles placed at specific points on the body to provide pain relief. Our technique of acupuncture integrates the foundational concepts of traditional chinese medicine and western contemporary methods. Research suggests that by stimulating the nerves and muscles, the brain increases production of endorphins, our bodies natural painkiller, as well as increasing circulation to the area to promote healing. Acupuncture may serve as a beneficial component to your treatment plan with no additional cost.

Both of our licensed chiropractors completed the Functional Integrated Acupuncture Certificate Program and are certified to deliver acupuncture as an adjunct to care. This program is designed with a biomedical focus on acupuncture for pain and sport injury management systems in order to improve patient outcomes.

Acupuncture Benefits:

  • Pain relief
  • Decrease muscle tension / trigger points
  • Improve joint range of motion
  • Promote tissue healing
  • Relaxation and stress reduction

Low-level Laser Therapy

The term "laser" is the acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive light source treatment that generates a single wavelength of light. It emits no heat, sound, or vibration. LLLT is believed to affect the function of connective tissue cells (fibroblasts), accelerate connective tissue repair and act as an anti-inflammatory agent. LLLT is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Simplified: When we sustain an injury, cells and proteins in the area must engage in the healing process. Think of these cells as cars. Under normal conditions these cells are running on regular gasoline, not bad, but not great. When we apply LLLT to the area we are now supplying these cells with premium gasoline, allowing them to work more efficiently and effectively, accelerating the healing process.

Low-level Laser Therapy Benefits:

  • Pain relief
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Accelerate tissue regeneration

Rehabilitative Exercise

In most cases we will provide you with a few exercises tailored to you and your goals. These are meant to strengthen, condition, mobilize, and stretch the soft tissues in the area. This allows you to be an active part of your treatment and manage your pain. Since our time with you is limited, these exercises are important to encourage pain management and prevention between visits.

Patient Education

The Atlas team believes patient education is just as important as the treatment itself. We empower our patients with the knowledge and tools to take control of their pain. We want to provide you with more than just a quick fix, but rather a comprehensive understanding of the root issue behind your pain. We do this by providing a clear diagnosis and explaining how we will treat it and more importantly, how you can manage it in the future. Our main goal is to ensure that you understand what’s going on and what we’re doing to help. This may also include nutritional advice, stress management, pain management, prevention strategies, and exercise recommendations.

We accommodate a variety of scenarios including home and in office visits.
